Château de la Maltroye

The rare star of Côte de Beaune, this famous estate, Château de la Maltroye, located in Chassagne-Montrachet, owns vineyards both in Chassagne-Montrachet and Santenay. Jean-Pierre Cournut took over the family business, after his father’s death, in 1993. Chassagne-Montrachet had then found itself another wonderful winemaker. Under his leadership, the production of the Estate has reached the top quality of the winegrowing community.

Château de la Maltroye’s vineyards are composed of 16 Hectares (40 acres) of Chassagne- Montrachet and Chassagne Montrachet Premiers Crus,  plus 2 Hectares (5 acres) of Santenay Premier Cru. It offers in total a range of 12 different Chassagne-Montrachet Premiers Crus, which makes it the biggest owner of Chassagne Montrachet Premiers Crus  within one estate.

65% of the production is white, made from Chardonnay, and 35% is red, from Pinot Noir.
