Domaine des Meix - Christophe Guillo

Domaine des Meix - Christophe Guillo

Before the war, the grandfather was the only vineyard owner on the uncultivated plains (used almost entirely for wheat and uncommonly for vines) called « Les Murgers ». He planted Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc (which still exists today) and had a difficult time selling his yield. At the beginning of the 1960s, he had the idea to plant Pinot Noir, which we may find today, unique in this terroir of great white wines. Christophe Guillo took over the vineyards in the early 1990s and after clearing the edges of the vineyards, the exploitable surface area doubled in the successive plantings (1995-1996-1997). This2 hectareparcel of Saint Aubin 1er Cru “Les Murgers des Dents de Chien”, is planted on two-thirds with Chardonnay and one-third with Pinot Noir that is a monopoly. Uncompromising on his traditional work methods, Mr. Guillo vinifies in terms of vintage, far from trends, with the absence of fining and filtering, these wines are less manipulated which preserves the potential aromas and expression of this unique terroir.
